The 34th Annual Santa Cruz Paddlefest is Cancelled due to Health Concerns

Based upon recent events, and at the recommendation of the County of Santa Cruz Health Department, we have cancelled our event. The decision was not made lightly and in the interest of protecting our local and paddling communities we are heading their advice.

As we move forward SCPF will be assessing the financial stress that this cancellation has on the event. Afterwards, we will reach out about any potential refunds. Thank you for your understanding and patience in this difficult time.

We have TENTATIVE dates for 2021 running from April 1st to the 4th. It is still too soon at this time to be certain if we will be able to reschedule the 2020 event. We will be in communication with all of our vendors, competitors, friends, and family as soon as we have any new information on the dates of our next event.

Thank you all for you support in this challenging time. We hope that you all stay healthy and we hope to see you on the water soon.

Join us for the 33rd Annual Santa Cruz Paddlefest!

March 28-31, 2019

The Santa Cruz Paddlefest 10k presented by powercrunch went off with a mixed bag of conditions. On the start line everything was fairly glassy, but as competitors belted it out around the wharf they discovered there was a deceiving bump on the water. Conditions turned out another set of blistering fast finish times for our competitors.

Our Elite Men’s race finished with quite a bit of drama! Slater Trout crossed the finish line first but, due to not wearing the required safety equipment he was forced to be disqualified. Mo and Tyler ended up battling it out on the sand with Mo barely holding onto what will end up as a first place finish. It breaks our heart to play the bad guy but the Coast Guard sets rules for these events which must be followed if we are going to continue them.

The Women’s Elite field had a slightly larger spread to them with Jade Howson coming in a full 40 seconds before April Zilg and finally Candice Appleby.

We are absolutely stoked to see a large number of young and new faces this year and we certainly look forward to watching those young athletes grow! We are so happy to put on another successful event and are excited to be headed into the finals days of our surfing competition!

Men’s Elite 10k

1st Mo Freitas

2nd Tyler Bashor

3rd Itzel Delgado

Womens Elite 10k

1st Jade Howson

2nd April Zilg

3rd Candice Appleby

Volunteers for 2018!

Posted on Updated on

Have you got some downtime? Come and volunteer!

Our humble event runs on volunteer power. Everything from getting out heat results to setting up the race buoys.

Our community is Amazing

Seriously, the watersport community is a beautiful group of human beings.

It’ll be just like hanging out with old friends, oh wait…

Do you like sunrises?

Most of the shifts aren’t actually that early, but every year we get a treat. We aren’t just trying to tell you that you’re beautiful, well maybe you are, but the friendships in our community are strong.

And that wave karma, its got to come from somewhere… 😉
